Wrap it up!
A brand spanking new shrink wrap machine has been installed on the Portion Control line at the Seven Hills plant.
The Portion Control line produces portion tubs approximately 13g. Tubs are formed, filled, sealed, placed into trays, shrink-wrapped and cartoned. Products manufactured include tomato, BBQ and sweet chilli sauces, a variety of jams, as well as mayonnaise and tartare sauce.
After 25 years of service, the old shrink wrap machine had become inoperable. The electrical system was outdated and no spares were available to service it.
A new machine was found that was capable of performing the task. Operators and tradespeople successfully performed a trial using our materials at the supplier's premises.
The machine was then installed by the Maintenance department. While Steve Shields (Maintenance Fitter) looked after the mechanical aspects of the installation, it was left to Steve Wickman and Daniel Black (Maintenance Electricians) to ensure the machine operated to Australian Standards. Jason Smith (Portion Line Leading Hand) was in charge of commissioning the machine. Jason's persistence during this process was a perfect example of the Cerebos value of Speed, Urgency and Determination.
The success of this project was due to the exemplary teamwork demonstrated between the 'Boys in White' (Production) and the ‘Boys in Blue' (Maintenance).
